Removing Carpet Stains
Carpet stains are a headache. Whether your kids dropped some paint, someone spilled a glass of red wine or perhaps your pet left a little present for you, removing carpet stains is annoying. Nevertheless, don’t fret; before you call an expensive cleaning company to do the job, here are a few simple, but trusted, DIY solutions to sort you out.
Amongst quick fixes such as baking soda, cornstarch, and salt, vinegar is considered to be one of the most popular solutions to aid you. Before attempting to clean your carpet, keep in mind that you should never scrub the stain out because you can damage the carpet fibers. Always blot the stain out with water gently, but thoroughly.
Here are a few methods on how to get rid of specific stains.
Coffee and Tea Stains
Combine equal parts of white vinegar and water to remove the stain effectively.
Spilled Paint
Use a solution of 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar, 1 1/2 teaspoons laundry detergent, and two cups water. Do this quickly to make sure the paint doesn’t set in the carpet fibers. Rinse away with water.
Wine Stains
Prepare two cups of warm water. In one of the cups, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar, and in the other pour one tablespoon of washing liquid. Use a sponge to apply the solution to the stain. Continue this process until the stain is removed.
Pet Accidents
Prepare two solutions, a detergent solution, and a vinegar solution. Using a cloth, dip it in the detergent solution and gently blot out the stain repeatedly for a few seconds. Wait a few minutes, and then remove the excess liquid. Next, apply the vinegar solution. Wait until the carpet dries completely. Repeat these steps until the stain is gone.
Deep Stains
If it’s particularly difficult to remove a stain, prepare a mixture of one tablespoon of vinegar and one tablespoon of cornstarch. Using a dry cloth, rub it into the stain and let it set for two days, then vacuum.
